Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! Our programs start from beginner level (N5) and gradually build up your skills to intermediate (N3), so even if you’ve never studied Japanese, you can confidently prepare for work and life in Japan.

N5 to N1 are levels of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). N5 is for beginners with basic words and simple conversations, while N1 is the most advanced level, testing reading, writing, listening, and understanding of complex Japanese. At Meihoku, we focus on N5 to N3, helping you use Japanese confidently in daily life and at work.

Our basic Japanese language courses last 6–9 months. Specialized skill courses add 2–3 months, depending on the industry and program requirements.

Our job-specific classes are tailored to each industry and visa type (TITP or SSW). You’ll learn the Japanese language, technical terms, and workplace skills needed for your field, like caregiving, manufacturing, construction, or food processing, so you’re fully prepared for your job in Japan.

  • JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test): Measures your overall Japanese ability, reading, listening, and grammar across five levels from N5 (beginner) to N1 (advanced). It’s widely recognized for study, work, and visa purposes.
  • JFT (Japanese Foundation Test) / JFT-Basic: Focuses on practical Japanese skills needed for daily life and work, especially for Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa applicants. It tests reading, listening, and basic communication rather than advanced grammar.

At Meihoku Training, our courses prepare students for both JLPT and JFT, combining language skills with workplace and industry-specific practice to ensure success in exams and real-life jobs in Japan.
