Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is a caregiver in demand in Japan?
Yes. Japan has a rapidly aging population, leading to a high demand for professional caregivers. Nursing homes, elderly care facilities, and home care services are experiencing a shortage of care workers. Meihoku Training prepares students to fill this demand by providing practical skills, Japanese language training, and guidance on workplace expectations, making graduates highly employable under the SSW – Kaigo visa.
2. What level of Japanese is required?
In caregiving jobs, daily communication with residents and staff is essential. Generally, a Japanese level equivalent to JLPT N4 or above is required. At Meihoku Training, we provide not only general Japanese lessons but also specialized Japanese used in caregiving settings.
3. I am not confident in my physical strength. Is that okay?
While caregiving can involve physical tasks, learning proper caregiving techniques helps reduce physical strain. Through hands-on training, we teach safe and efficient methods of care.
4. What is important in Japanese caregiving workplaces?
In addition to technical skills, kindness, communication, and teamwork are highly valued. At Meihoku Training, we also teach Japanese caregiving culture and values.
5. How do you apply in Japan as a caregiver?
To work in Japan as a caregiver under the SSW – Kaigo visa, candidates generally follow these steps:
- Enroll in a recognized Nursing Care Worker Training Program (Kaigo)

Students Success Stories
Hear from our graduates who are currently living their dreams in Japan.
At Meihoku Training Center, we learned Japanese and about life in Japan. The teachers were strict but friendly, and students were grouped by language level for easier learning. A native Japanese teacher was also available, and some lessons were explained in Nepali. The center’s rules and schedules gave us valuable experience before coming to Japan.
